Silver obsidian is volcanic glass carrying a silver sheen that slides across the bead as it turns. It reads as black from a distance and metallic up close, which is why it works in ranges that would never stock a pastel stone.
Grade is the strength and coverage of the sheen. A strand where every bead carries a clean silver band is a different line from one where the effect only shows on a few.

Obsidian is glass, not crystal
It is volcanic glass, and the sheen comes from gas inclusions aligned inside it. Saying so plainly is better than letting a customer discover it later.
The sheen is directional
Photos flatten it. Ask for a short video, or tilt the strand under a lamp when approving a lot.
Men's sizing sells
10 and 12 mm outsell 8 mm in this stone. If your range is unisex, stock the larger beads first.

Is this natural obsidian?
We supply natural obsidian. The market also contains glass made to imitate it — ask for the lot photo and we will show the actual material.
Will the silver sheen wear off?
The sheen is inside the material, not a coating, so it does not rub away. Surface polish can dull with heavy wear, as with any polished stone.
Does it scratch?
Obsidian is softer than quartz and can pick up fine surface scratches. Individual sleeves in packing help.
